Compagnie POC

The Company

The Cie POC was founded in 2010 by Frédéric PERANT, alias Fred Cie POC, with the ambition of a different approach to juggling and to its relation to music. A juggling led more by simplicity, proximity and musicality than techniques and performance.
A juggling that gives life to the characters, their world and emotions … that mingles with other arts : magic, dance, body percussion, music … to surprise, experiment, and attempt to renew.

Frédéric PERANT

Juggler, Comedian, Magician, Body percussionist, images searcher

FrĂ©dĂ©ric has been a juggler, object manipulator, musical gesture and street performer for over 20 years. He has gradually built up his own vision of juggling, in a beautiful fusion of orginality, passion and talent. Through his encounters, magic has become part of his world and the natural catalyst essential to this alchemy. His work on Juggling, Magic and Music has been the recipient of international magic awards as the Mandrake d’Or 2013 and the Golden Magic – Moscow 2015. He has been acclaimed for FISM, Wolrd Championships of Magic Korea 2018, White Perm Convention 2014- Russia / Le Plus Grand Cabaret du Monde 2012 / 45th AMA Awards Show – Magic Castle Los Angeles / Blackpool Magic Convention 2012 / Masters of Magic 2012 / FISM 2012 Blackpool / BIFM 2012 Busan Korea / French Congress of Illusion 2011 and many TV shows in Italy, China, Russia, Portugal
For the last 3 years, his researches on musicality of juggling, place the juggler as a real musician, and his objects as real instruments : incorporating bounces, shots and trajectories of balls in the musical composition and body-percussion choreography. A practice where we look at music and listen to movement. For this work, he has been collaborating closely wtih Mikis Papazof, a body-percussionist and Guillaume Lancou, a multi-instrumentalist, who perform with him in his last show BPM.

Mikis PAPAZOF

Body-percussionist, Musician, Comedian, Dancer

Mikis Papazof is a self-taught musician. His experimental approach of percussions led him to practice them in his own personal way, combining generosity and high technicality. He has been learning African and Brazilian percussions from masters of percussion such as Sega SidibĂ©, Mare Sanogo, Khalid Kouhen and Ronan Maguet since 1999. He participated to the creation of Sambadaboom (2000-2009), Kandid (2002-2005), Cie dounia (2001-2006), N’zassa nou (2002-2005), Cie D’Icidence with « chut ! » (2007-2013) and Blaka street (2009-2013).
Mikis’ passion for percussion and technicity led him to learn body-percussions in 2004 with models such as Max Polak (USA), Laïa Mollins (Barcelona), Jep Mendelez (Barcelona) and Leela Petronio (Paris). From 2008 to 2012, he collaborated with Raymond Peyramaure (Les oiseaux fous, Maboul distorsion).
Especially gifted and qualified in rhythms, he began to transcribe the classical Indian repertoire (tabla) into body-percussions (2010-2013).Mikis Papazof is an eternal unsatisfied seeker and is constantly looking for new paths through his body-percussion practice. His approach can be summed up with these three words: «rhythm-body-space».
